Lost Driving Licence - I have lost my driving licence - what do I do?

If you lose your UK driving licence, it is important that you take steps to find it as soon as possible. If you cannot find your lost licence you will need to take steps to get areplacement licence. Often people lose the paper part of the licence. They keep the photocard safe in their wallet but have lost paper dricing licence - otherwise known as the counterpart. Annother situation that often occurs is where a new driver gets their first provisional licence andf they keep the photocard but thrw away the counterpart thinking that it is not important. Provisional licence holders need to be able to produce both parts of their licence when attending for their theory test or practical dricing test.

If you have lost your licence and your driving test is imminent it is best to postpone the test as you will not be allowed to take the test without your provisional licence.

How much does a replacement licence cost?

The cost of replacement of a lost driving licence is usually £20. If you are only notifying a change of address the replacement cost is free. However if you are notiftying a change of address AND you have lost the licence, then normally you will be charged.
